Period Poverty. What does it mean?

Poverty, Stigma, and female hygiene gaps still happen in different parts of the world.

In Mozambique for example (like in many other parts of the world), teenagers and young adults miss school due to lack of access to period pads. Unfortunately, millions (if not billions) of unprivileged girls and women, transgender and nonbinary individuals struggle with period poverty.

Period poverty refers to the inability of access to sanitary products, and poor menstrual education. If Schools spell students who achieve a specific number of absent days at school, what happens to unprivileged girls and boys who menstruate every single month? They drop out or are simply spelled!

Menstruation is not a luxury. Period.
